Plot Synopsis:
Maria is a sweet young postulant whose love of freedom makes it obvious to her superiors that she is not suited for religious life. Thus, she is sent off to be the governess to Captain von Trapp's seven troublesome children. Unlike previous governesses, Maria becomes friends with the children due to their mutual love of music. Soon, even the strict Captain begins to admire Maria. Eventually, the Captain and Maria fall in love and are married. Unfortunately, when the Nazis invade their homeland, Austria, the whole family is forced to flee over the alps to escape.

Production Notes:
Due to the overwhelming success of "My Fair Lady," Mrs. Edith Roeder and her staff ventured into year two of the Broadway Musical, the beautiful "Sound of Music." The musical doors were opened to Elementary and Junior High grade levels and the "All-School Musical" was established. Students of all ages filled the stage to recapture the beautiful story of the VonTrapp Family Singers. The show ran for two successful performances. The cast and chorus was comprised of approximately 85 students led by Megan Jones, Janet Kistler, Robert Grosch, Keith Semmel, Lynn Warfel, and Billy Snyder. Not only did Mrs. Roeder instruct the cast in dramatics and dance, she also sewed and mended the costumes; between scenes on stage right!
